PCSO conducts one-time feeding in Maasin City to celebrate 75th anniversary

Maasin City, Southern Leyte (6 September) — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, in close coordination with the Office of Presidential Assistant and Regional Kalhahi Convergence Group will conduct a one-time feeding of the 21 randomly selected barangays in Maasin City, today, September 6.

Febe Ma. Sta. Cruz, City Social Welfare Officer here said in a short talk that in consonance with PCSO’s 75th anniversary, a one-time feeding will be conducted in 21 barangays around Maasin City. “The target beneficiaries are children from 5 months to 6 years old which will be held at the respective barangay halls,” Sta. Cruz reported. ” They prepared pospas for the feeding.” she added.

A total of P42,000 was allocated for the one-time feeding sponsored by the PCSO with P2,000 per barangay and targeted at least 100 children in each barangay, Sta. Cruz told.

PCSO’s 75th anniversary dubbed as “100% in one day” believes that the sucess of the program will depend on the cooperation of the local government units and its officials and other concerned government agencies. Though, their office welcomes and encourages the participation and assitance of civic and religious organizations in the lccal level.

Sta. Cruz further said that the area coverage is 30% of the toal barangays and the preapration of the food will be undetaken by the barangay concerned.

Sources said that this is the first huge medical mission ever made, since it is conducted nationwide, targeting at least 100% of the total barangays throughout the country and will mobilize 100,000 medical doctos, nurses and dental practitioners.

In Maasin City, the shceduled medical and dental mission today, September 6 was postponed due to some reasons, Dr. Francilisa I. Tan, City Health Officer of the City Health Unit revealed.

There are at least 7 municapalities and Maasin City that were identified by PCSO where they will conduct the medical mission. The municipalities were as follows: San Francisco, San Juan, San Ricardo, Silago, Sogod, Tomas Oppus and in Limasawa Isalnd. (PIA-soleyte)
